Bangladesh Expert Group Claims Getting Combination Drugs for COVID-19.
As the corona virus or COVID-19 is already spreading its effects around the world, medical experts, researchers and scientists are working around the clock to maximize potential drugs and vaccines to combat this truly contagious virus.
From hydrochloroquine to remedivers, there are a number of potential COVID-19 treatments that are being tested for their efficacy and safety as the world has joined hands to find a cure for the highly contagious disease COVID-19.
This pandemic has claimed many lives worldwide and infected 4.7 million people. While the number of COVID-19 cases is likely to increase, there is good information being shared by Bangladeshi medical groups that can provide hope.
A group of Bangladeshi experts led by a senior doctor exclaimed that they had found a breakthrough to treat seriously ill COVID-19 patients with the right combination of drugs.
As reported by the news agency, claims of "near-miraculous" results were reported with the use of an antiprotozoal drug called Ivermectin which is a parasite-killing drug, along with the antibiotic Doxycycline.
The Bangladeshi doctors said that the combination of the two drugs gave good results in patients with acute symptoms of the corona virus disease. The two drugs were administered to 60 patients treated with respiratory problems who later tested positive for COVID-19.
The doctors further revealed that to their surprise all the patients, who numbered 60, recovered with the combination of the two drugs in a span of at least 4 days.
It is important to note that medical researchers around the world are already trying different combinations to treat the new coronavirus, including the HIV drug combination (lopinavir and ritonavir), but not enough studies have been conducted to investigate their efficacy.
In addition, the Bangladeshi medical group was 100 percent interested in the effectiveness of the drug combination and added that this combination was also applied during the SARS epidemic. It is known, the number of positive cases of the corona virus in Bangladesh has reached 23,870 cases, with a death toll of 349.
